can I live?

every day

Ok, so this is a subject I revisit quite a lot. And not just in January.

I've been working in an office environment for many years. As much as I've always enjoyed the social aspect of it, there's a LOT of negative, harmful conversations about body image. You know the ones. "Omg, I'm like, SO FAT right now!" and "Oh, I can't eat that, I'm on a diet." Or "Is that a frappuccino? Do you know how many calories are in that?"

It's frustrating to be stuck in a society where the chorus is "not being skinny means you're a failure." And also "but if you're too skinny, you're not desirable to men." And I never got used to it. In fact, the older I get, the less I can tolerate body-shaming. So I deal with it by wearing headphones during the day, and making comics at night.

I'm happy to see that there are more conversations about body positivity nowadays, but I still feel like we have SUCH a long way to go.
